      Van Cleef & Arpels

Guests were invited for a one-night only dinner hosted at Byodoin in Kyoto—the jewel of 11 century Japanese architecture, Byodoin in Kyoto. Originally built as a villa for the powerful family of the Fujiwara clan, Byodoin boasts many treasures from the 11th century, serving as a culmination of the best carpentry and craftsmanship of that period. As the night’s guests stepped in, they were greeted with a 2.4-meter tall statue of the Amida buddha and his 52 Buddhist saints. Normally open to the public only during daytime, the guests were invited to slip into the magical hours of the night, bringing them into the glorious days of the past.
