Richard Mille - Louvre Abu Dhabi Art Prize
Richard Mille
At the occasion of Louvre Abu Dhabi Art Here prize remittance, 70 guests from all over the world were invited to a rarely seen setting in Nikko, Toshogu Shrine, a hidden gem designed by Kenzo Tange, for an intimate gala dinner. Built around the concept of shadows, the evening played with darkness and light, using mirrors throughout the space to create subtle reflections and shifting perspectives. As guests moved through the venue, they experienced performances by a carefully selected group of artists, including bartender Yuzo Komai, Taiko Bonten, and the Butoh dancers of Sankaijuku.
The next day, the gathering moved to Lake Chuzenji’s boathouse, where a tent was set on the existing deck, opening the ceremony to the surrounding natural scenery. Against the backdrop of water and forest, guests were entertained by geishas and a Kabuki performance of Renjishi by Onoe Ukon and Onoe Maholo, bringing the experience to a quiet and memorable close.
